When you elected me 28 months ago, I promised to get our city back on track, and that's exactly what I'm doing. A major Wall Street rating agency recently upgraded San Diego’s financial outlook from negative to positive based on the reforms I’ve put in place.
I’ve also proposed a new pension system that limits taxpayer liability, and secured voter approval for a ballot measure that requires a public vote for any future employee benefit increases.
I’ve streamlined city operations, eliminated over 670 staff positions, and saved taxpayers over $50 million annually.
We’ve also managed to set aside over $100 million for long-deferred maintenance and infrastructure projects—an increase of over 4,000 percent.
Funding for the San Diego Fire Rescue Department has been increased by 60%, and 
police officers received a pay raise so that the city can recruit and retain qualified officers.

We've made good progress in getting our city back on track, but completing the job will require continued fiscal discipline.
